On our hikes, we enjoy unspoilt nature and the most beautiful views, we taste autochthonous wine varieties and visit the most beautiful villages in Herzegovina – and of course Sarajevo and Mostar.

In 9 days, we travel from the capital Sarajevo across the Bjelašnica mountain range to the Winelands of Herzegovina.
We stroll through the alleyways of Sarajevo’s Baščaršija and hike to the loneliest village in Bosnia, Lukomir. In Mostar, we watch the daredevil bridge jumpers. We explore the most beautiful villages in Herzegovina and taste the three autochthonous grape varieties Žilavka, Blatina and Trnjak of the wine region in a total of four different boutique wineries.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL | 3 NIGHTS IN SARAJEVO
Are you ready to fall in love with Bosnia and Herzegovina? From the capital Sarajevo to the unspoilt peaks of Bjelašnica and the hills of the wine lands? Today, you finally board your flight to Sarajevo.
Once you’ve checked into your accommodation, you’ll have time to freshen up and take your first walk around the old town before we meet up for a welcome drink in Barhana in the evening to get to know each other and get in the mood for the week ahead.
DAY 2: SARAJEVO - GET TO KNOW SARAJEVO
You meet in the morning to explore Sarajevo—see it, feel it, hear it and taste it on this urban hike tour with Numa and Kathi, a walk through the mahalas, the old Ottoman neighbourhoods.
You’ll see an old synagogue, small mosques with wooden minarets, an old dervish monastery and a Catholic boarding school as you hike up the hill to end up at a secret viewpoint with your guide. From there, we’ll enjoy the view of the city and then have lunch together.
You have the afternoon at leisure.
DAY 3: HIKE TO LUKOMIR
On Mount Bjelašnica, you will hike for around two and a half hours across the enchanted Studeni Potok plain and along the second deepest canyon in Europe, the Rakitnica Canyon, to Lukomir; the most remote mountain village in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In Lukomir, you will get to know the inhabitants, who still live today as they did hundreds of years ago — from agriculture, sheep farming and manual labour. You will enjoy a typical Bosnian lunch—homemade from fresh, local ingredients.
Then it’s the 2.5-hour return journey to Umoljani, from where we drive back to Sarajevo.
DAY 4: JOURNEY TO MOSTAR | 4 NIGHTS IN MOSTAR
Today you will travel through the Neretva Canyon to Mostar. The journey alone is worth the trip: most of the time we will be travelling directly along the turquoise-green Neretva, with the mountains of Bosnia towering all around us.
Immediately after check-in, we start our exploration tour of Mostar with a short city tour. Afterwards, you have the afternoon at leisure to get to know the jewel of Herzegovina on your own.
DAY 5: MAGICAL BLAGAJ
Today we set off to explore Herzegovina – it is not only the wine region of our country, but also the Mediterranean heart. After a relaxing afternoon, we drive together to the village of Blagaj – particularly famous for its dervish monastery. After the tekija, we climb up to the fortress of Duke Stjepan for one of the best views of the entire region.
On the way back to Mostar, it’s time for the first wine stop: at the Emporia winery, we taste four wines, including the two indigenous varieties Žilavka and Blatina – both are said to have even been on the dinner table of Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary!
The evening is at leisure.
DAY 6: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE ILLYRIANS
DAY 7: WATERFALLS & WINE GLASSES
The theme for today? Waterfalls and wine glasses! The Herzegovinian landscape is very different from the lush nature of Sutjeska, but just as beautiful. You will enjoy the rivers of this karst region and taste the delicious wines that nature has in store for us.
After breakfast, we set off for the most beautiful waterfalls in Herzegovina: the Kravica and Kočuša waterfalls. From there, we continue to the small town of Ljubuški, one of the heart regions of the Winelands with numerous wineries. After a short detour up to Ljubuški Castle, where a gloomy legend awaits, we taste the award-winning wines in the Milas family winery, right in the wine cellar.
In the late afternoon, a special highlight awaits: we visit the boutique winery Marijanović, where we enjoy a barbecue dinner and mix our own wine, bottle it, cork it and write our names on the label to take home as the perfect souvenir!
DAY 8: RETURN JOURNEY TO SARAJEVO | 1 NIGHT SARAJEVO
Today we have organised a late check-out for you so that you can take another stroll through Mostar in the morning. At 12 noon, we will then set off on our return journey to Sarajevo—not without stopping off in Jablanica. Here we will have lunch and those who wish can savour the lamb on the spit for which the region is famous.
In the afternoon we reach Sarajevo, where you can spend the afternoon shopping for souvenirs, visiting museums or simply relaxing. Finally, we meet again in the evening — for a farewell dinner together, a typical Bosnian Sač, where we toast to new friendships and a successful trip.
DAY 9: ABREISE
Heute ist es an der Zeit, Bosnien und Herzegowina Lebewohl zu sagen. Oder besser gesagt: Bis zum nächsten Mal. Denn wir sind uns sicher, dass du dich nach dieser Reise Hals über Kopf in dieses kleine herzförmige Land verliebt hast. Und dass du in deinem Kopf wahrscheinlich schon deine Rückreise planst!
Nach dem Transfer zum Flughafen machst du dich auf den Weg zurück nach Hause.
