What to expect
Learn how to prepare authentic Bosnian pita from scratch, including the little tricks you won’t find in any cookbook. In her apartment above the rooftops of Sarajevo, our Bosnian aunt Nedreta will show you step by step how to stretch the dough, prepare the filling, and turn a few simple ingredients into one of the country’s most beloved dishes.
And yes, Nedreta takes her role seriously. If your dough has a few holes, she might tell you with a wink that this clearly means you’re completely unsuitable for marriage. Don’t worry — that’s all part of the experience. In the end, the pita will still taste fantastic. Maybe even better because you made it yourself.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy homemade mezze, non-alcoholic drinks, and plenty of stories from the Bosnian kitchen. After 3–4 hours, it feels less like a cooking class and more like a relaxed afternoon in the kitchen of a Bosnian family.

Good to know
Is this cooking class a good way to discover Bosnian cuisine?
Definitely. Bosnian cuisine is deeply rooted in family recipes — and that’s exactly what you’ll experience in this Sarajevo cooking class. Instead of cooking in a formal cooking school, you’ll step into a real Sarajevo kitchen and see how these dishes are prepared at home.
What makes this Sarajevo cooking class special?
Unlike many traditional cooking classes, this experience takes place in a private home. You’ll cook with our local host Nedreta, who grew up with these dishes. Expect plenty of humor, honest comments about your pita dough, and lots of stories from everyday life in Sarajevo.
Do I need cooking experience?
Not at all. This Sarajevo cooking class is suitable for everyone — whether you cook regularly or usually only manage to boil water.
What dishes will we prepare?
You’ll learn how to make traditional Bosnian pita from scratch during the class. Depending on the day and the season, we sometimes also prepare klepe. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a variety of homemade mezze.
Can dietary restrictions or allergies be accommodated?
Please let us know about any allergies or dietary requirements when booking. We’ll do our best to accommodate them. Unfortunately, we cannot fully cater to strict vegan diets.
Where does the cooking class take place?
This Sarajevo cooking class takes place in our host’s home in the Baščaršija district. The exact address will be shared with you after booking.
In which language is the cooking class held?
Nedreta speaks English — and, of course, Bosnian. But don’t worry: cooking and good food are an international language anyway.
How large can the groups be?
This cooking class is designed for small groups. Nedreta’s apartment comfortably fits up to 7 hungry cooks. Traveling with a larger group? Send us an email at bookings@cheyf.ba and we’ll find a solution.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel your tour free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the experience.
Book your experience from 60 EUR
