THIS TOUR IS ORGANISED IN COOPERATION WITH OUR PARTNER.
Tour description
The tour starts in front of our partner agency, from where you will take an off-road vehicle to the starting point of the hike, the Prijevor viewpoint at the foot of Maglić. The journey takes just over an hour.
On the way up to the starting point of the hike, you make a short stop to take a look at the Perućica primeval forest. This area is still little explored today, a last piece of wilderness in the heart of Europe!
Then you start the hike to Lake Trnovaćko with your guide – each trail is around six kilometres long, so you will cover around eleven kilometres in total. Your path leads you down into the Suva Jezerina Valley, which is already in Montenegro. Yes, you cross a national border on the hike, just like that, on foot – crazy, right?
Along the upper edge of the valley, through the forest, you soon reach the plateau with the heart-shaped Trnovačko Lake. In summer, it warms up to 22 degrees – perfect for cooling off in the emerald green water! Your guide also has a packed lunch for you, which you can enjoy right on the shore of the lake before heading back to the starting point of the hike.
At around 5.00 p.m., you will then head by car from Prijevor to Tjentište, the Valley of Heroes, to visit the monumental memorial dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the Second World War.
The hike ends either there, if you have accommodation in Sutjeska National Park (ask us directly – we’ll be happy to book for you!) or again at our partner agency in Foča.
Please wear comfortable shoes, hiking boots if possible, and bring a refillable water bottle and your passport or ID card. In summer, please remember sun cream and a hat. In summer, you can also swim in the lake, so pack a bathing suit and towel.
